Finding the Unexpected

"Water, thou hast no taste, no color, no odor; canst not be defined, art relished while ever mysterious. Not necessary to life, but rather life itself, thou fillest us with a gratification that exceeds the delight of the senses." — (Antoine de Saint-Exupery, Wind, Sand and Stars)

There to look at fish in the Connecticut River, I’m drawn to over-sized structures that harness and direct the river.  Lines create layers upon layers of horizontal and vertical, intersecting and bisecting, throwing rust in contrast with the sky.

The iPhone, camera of the moment, does an admirable job under bright sun and over rushing water.  It’d be nice to play with what to bring in and out of focus but there you have it.  No place to hide.
